The United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030) is a global collaboration that places older adults at the centre of this plan. The goal is to gather governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media, and the private sector to improve the lives of older adults, their families, and the communities in which they live.
Keeping in mind that populations around the world are aging at a faster pace than ever before, and how this demographic shift will have an impact on almost all aspects of society, the United Nations has outlined an action plan to ensure that older adults can fulfill their potential in dignity, equality, and in a healthy environment.
The Decade will address four areas for action: age-friendly environments, combating ageism, integrated care, and long-term care. Given that this is an international effort, you can feel relieved that millions of others around the globe are experiencing the same emotions as you.
